Ariel Tatum

Ariel Tatum was born Ariel Dewinta Ayu Sekarini on November 8, 1996, in Jakarta, Indonesia. Her parents are Tatum Mathilda and Rico Valentino Murry. She comes from a family with a background in entertainment; her paternal grandfather is Murry, a musician from the Koes Plus group, and her maternal grandmother is Joice Erna, an actress who received a Citra Award in 1978. Ariel began her career in the entertainment industry in 2004 as a model for a Unilever Lifebuoy shampoo advertisement. The following year, in 2005, she transitioned to film, starring in the family musical drama “Ariel dan Raja Langit,” directed by Harry Dagoe Suharyadi. During her school years, Ariel attended Harapan Ibu Islamic School for high school, though she also utilized homeschooling due to her demanding schedule. She later pursued higher education at Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, majoring in psychology, but ultimately resigned from her studies.

Her career expanded into music in 2011, when she collaborated with Ari Lasso, performing the song “Because I Have Been With You” for his compilation album. In 2016, she released the single “Without Words,” followed by “Until Death” in 2019, a song she wrote based on personal experiences. The same year, she also recorded the song “Coklat” with Glenn Fredly. In June 2017, Ariel took a temporary hiatus from public appearances to focus on the “Community of Children of the Country,” a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for underprivileged children. She returned to public life in November 2017. In 2018, she made her theatrical debut in “Langit 7 Bidadari” at the Garuda Theater.

Ariel Tatum resumed her acting career in films in 2021, featuring in “Selesai,” directed by Tompi. Later that year, she was cast by Garin Nugroho in the family film “Sepeda Presiden,” portraying the character Binar. She was also cast as Fatimah in the war drama “This City Is a Battlefield,” directed by Mouly Surya and adapted from Mochtar Lubis’s novel. Her upcoming projects include “How to Survive a Marriage?” (2024), where she plays Minar, and several films slated for 2025: “Siapa Dia” as Anna, “La Tahzan” as Asih, “This City Is a Battlefield” as Fatimah, and “A Business Proposal” as Sari, further solidifying her position in the Indonesian film industry.
