Ashley Fliehr

Ashley Elizabeth Fliehr, also known as WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair, was born on April 5, 1986, in Charlotte, North Carolina. Her early athletic endeavors included volleyball and gymnastics, where she earned two state championships in high school and played Division 1 volleyball for Appalachian State. Fliehr later transferred to North Carolina State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in public relations in Spring 2008. Her path to professional wrestling, however, was unexpected, initiated by discussions about her late brother’s potential WWE career.

Fliehr signed with WWE in 2012, adopting the ring name Charlotte. Her main roster debut on Monday Night Raw occurred in 2015, following her NXT Women’s Championship win in 2014. She quickly rose to prominence, securing her first Divas Championship in 2015 and later retiring the title to become the inaugural WWE Women’s Champion in 2016. Fliehr has since held this title a record-tying seven times and holds the record for most Women’s Titles in WWE history. Her career is marked by historical achievements, including the first-ever WrestleMania main event featuring females at WrestleMania 35, and becoming the first female WWE Superstar to main event a singles match on Raw, SmackDown, and a Premium Live Event.

Beyond the wrestling ring, Fliehr has diversified her career. She has been featured in various media outlets like ABC’s Good Morning America, ESPN The Magazine’s “Body Issue,” and NBC’s Today Show. Her acting credits include the comedic-drama Psych: The Movie and a guest appearance on Peacock’s Punky Brewster. In 2022, she launched her “Eminence” jewelry collaboration with The Rockford Collection, further expanding her entrepreneurial ventures. Fliehr maintains a significant social media presence, ranking among the top 15 most-followed female athletes globally, and actively supports charitable organizations such as Make-A-Wish and Special Olympics.
