Ashley Jensen

Ashley Jensen is a Scottish actress and narrator known for her wide range of roles in television and film, from comedic to dramatic performances. After gaining significant recognition for her Emmy and BAFTA-nominated role as Maggie Jacobs in the BBC Two/HBO television programme ‘Extras’ (2005-2007), which earned her Best Television Comedy Actress and Newcomer awards at the 2005 British Comedy Awards, Ashley Jensen went on to establish a versatile career across film and television. Jensen’s early professional training included Edinburgh’s Queen Margaret University and the UK’s National Youth Theatre. Her initial television appearances included roles in the 1993 BBC drama ‘Down Among the Big Boys’ as Clare Donnelly, and Rosie McConnichy in the BBC comedy ‘May to December’ in 1994.

In recent years, Ashley Jensen has continued to bolster her presence in British television, joining the cast of the BBC drama ‘Shetland’ in 2022 as the new lead, DI Ruth Calder.
