Bahia Watson

Bahia Watson was born in Carman, Manitoba, Canada, and raised in Winnipeg, developing an early passion for storytelling. Her career began to gain prominence through her extensive theatre work, where she showcased her versatility and stage presence. Early theatre credits include playing the young Princess Elizabeth in “The Virgin Trial” and Bess in “The Last Wife,” both at Stratford and Soulpepper. She also performed in “The Seagull” and “Someone Else” at Crow’s Theatre/Company Theatre, “The Penelopiad” at Nightwood Theatre, DISS at Mixed Company, and “A Raisin in the Sun” at Soulpepper. These early roles established her as a notable talent in the Canadian theatre scene, earning her critical recognition.

Watson transitioned into television and film, where she has secured recurring roles in major productions. She is widely recognized for her role as Brianna in “The Handmaid’s Tale” (MGM), appearing in 24 episodes between 2017 and 2025. Another significant television role includes May in “Star Trek: Discovery” (CBS), where she featured in four episodes in 2019. Her film credits include “Flush,” “Remedy” (Global), and “The Archivists” (2020). Her notable voice acting career includes roles in “My Little Pony: Tell Your Tale” (2022–2025), “The Loud House” (2022–2024), “Superkitties” (2023–2024), “Strawberry Shortcake: Berry in the Big City” (2021–2024), “Zokie of Planet Ruby” (2023), “My Little Pony: Make Your Mark” (2022–2023), “Stillwater” (2023), “Rugrats” (2023), and “Total DramaRama” (2018-2022).

Beyond acting, Bahia Watson is also an accomplished playwright. She has written “The Numbers Game” for the Storefront Theatre/Pulp Collective and “pomme is french for apple” for Paul Watson Productions. Her talent and hard work have been recognized with several awards, including a Dora Award for Outstanding Performance Ensemble for “The Penelopiad” and the RBC Footprint Award, presented by Obsidian Theatre. She is a two-time Screen Actors’ Guild nominee for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for her work on “The Handmaid’s Tale” (2019, 2020) and won the ACTRA Award for Outstanding Voice Performance – Female in 2021 for “Total Dramarama.” She continues to contribute to the arts as an artist and storyteller.
