Bam Adebayo

Edrice Femi “Bam” Adebayo was born on July 18, 1997, in Newark, New Jersey. He acquired his nickname “Bam Bam” at a young age after flipping a coffee table similarly to the character Bamm-Bamm Rubble from The Flintstones. Adebayo moved to North Carolina at age seven and began his basketball journey, attending Northside High School in Pinetown where he averaged 32.2 points and 21 rebounds as a junior. He later transferred to High Point Christian Academy, leading his team to a NCISAA state championship appearance and being named North Carolina Mr. Basketball in 2016. A highly-rated five-star recruit, he committed to the University of Kentucky, playing one collegiate season before entering the NBA.

Adebayo was drafted 14th overall by the Miami Heat in the 2017 NBA draft. His professional career saw a significant turning point in the 2019–20 season when he became a starter after the Heat traded Hassan Whiteside. This transition led to his first NBA All-Star selection in 2020, and he also won the NBA All-Star Weekend Skills Challenge. He helped lead the Heat to the NBA Finals in 2020 and 2023, showcasing his versatile skills beyond scoring, including rebounding, assists, steals, and blocks. His contributions have earned him multiple NBA All-Defensive Team selections, including a First Team honor in 2024.

His international career includes two Olympic gold medals with the United States men’s national basketball team in 2020 and 2024, further cementing his status as a top-tier player. Adebayo has consistently ranked among the league leaders in rebounds and defensive categories throughout his career, highlighted by numerous double-doubles and reaching significant franchise milestones, such as surpassing Rony Seikaly for the most career double-doubles in Heat history in 2025.
