Julian Champagnie

Julian Kymani Champagnie was born on June 29, 2001, in Staten Island, New York. He grew up in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School, where he played alongside his twin brother, Justin. During his junior year, he averaged 15 points, earning Third Team All-Catholic High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) AA honors. As a senior, Champagnie averaged 17.2 points and was named to the First Team All-CHSAA AA. He committed to St. John’s for college basketball, choosing them over offers from Pittsburgh, Washington State, Cincinnati, and Seton Hall.

Champagnie’s college career at St. John’s was marked by consistent performance and recognition. As a freshman, he averaged 9.9 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, earning two Big East Freshman of the Week selections and a spot on the All-Freshman Team in 2020. His sophomore season in 2020-21 saw an increase in production, with averages of 19.8 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.4 steals, and one block per game, leading to his first First-team All-Big East selection. He initially declared for the 2021 NBA draft but withdrew to return for his junior year. In his junior season (2021-22), he maintained strong performance, averaging 19.2 points, 6.6 rebounds, two steals, and 1.1 blocks per game, earning his second consecutive First-team All-Big East honor. Following this, he declared for the 2022 NBA draft, where he ultimately went undrafted.

Champagnie began his professional journey after going undrafted in 2022, signing a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. He split his playing time between the 76ers and their NBA G League affiliate, the Delaware Blue Coats. In February 2023, he was waived by the 76ers, but was quickly claimed off waivers by the San Antonio Spurs. He signed a two-way contract with the Spurs and later re-signed with the team on a multi-year deal in July 2023. During the 2024–25 NBA season, Champagnie appeared in all 82 games for the San Antonio Spurs, averaging 9.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 1.4 assists.
