About

Barry William Blenkhorn was born on September 30, 1954, in Santa Monica, California. From a young age, he expressed a strong desire to enter show business, taking acting lessons and performing in commercials. At age 11, he officially changed his name to Barry Williams. His early career included guest appearances in notable television series such as “Run for Your Life” (1965), “Here Come the Brides” (1968), “It Takes a Thief” (1968), “Marcus Welby, M.D.” (1969), and “Mission: Impossible” (1966). These roles provided a foundation for his breakthrough.

Williams rose to prominence with his iconic role as Greg Brady in the highly successful family sitcom “The Brady Bunch” (1969-1974). Following the show’s initial run, he expanded into musical theater, performing in productions like “Pippin,” “West Side Story,” “Oklahoma,” and “Grease.” He continued to make television appearances in shows such as “Police Woman” (1974), “Three’s Company” (1976), “Highway to Heaven” (1984), and “Murder, She Wrote” (1984). In 1999, he released a tribute album, “The Return of Johnny Bravo,” celebrating his musical talents and commemorating 30 years of “The Brady Bunch.” Williams has also made an impact as an author with his 1992 autobiography, “Growing Up Brady: I Was A Teenage Greg,” which became a New York Times bestseller and was adapted into a television film in 2000.

More recently, Williams has participated in various unscripted television projects and reunions, including “A Very Brady Renovation” (2019) on HGTV, where he joined his former castmates. He also appeared on “The Masked Singer” (2022) as one of the ‘Mummies’ and competed on “Dancing with the Stars” (2023). Williams continues to tour with his music and engage in public speaking, maintaining a connection with his fanbase and showcasing his versatile career.
