A widely recognised English comedy duo, Bell & Spurling were formed in the 1990’s and comprise Martin Bell and Johnny Spurling. Bell & Spurling are perhaps best known for their chart single, ‘Sven, Sven, Sven’, that peaked at No 7 in the UK singles chart in 2001. More recently, Bell & Spurling are known for presenting their own radio show on Love Radio Sport, known as The Bell & Spurling Show.
Bell & Spurling’s popular single, ‘Sven, Sven, Sven’, took inspiration from the England football team’s 5-1 victory against Germany. Both members of the duo were both singers before forming the duo, the duo went on to appear on radio stations including Talksport and Capital FM. Another popular hit that the duo spawned is Goldenballs (Mr Beckham To You), which became widely known for years to come. Bell & Spurling have appeared on television as well as radio, featuring on Top of the Pops on numerous occasions.
In 2018, Bell & Spurling created a new take on their famous single ‘Sven, Sven, Sven’ for the World Cup in Russia, titled ‘Gareth, Gareth, Gareth’. Bell wrote and performed the song ‘Running Free’ which was the leading song in ‘Run For Your Wife’, which starred Danny Dyer. Spurling has featured in The Flirting Club, a comedy film released in 2010. He went on to make his debut at the Edinburgh Festival with his show, titled Terry Alderton’s All Crazy Now.
