Ben Cameron

Ben Cameron has had a diverse and extensive career in theatre and arts administration. He served as the Executive Director of TCG staff starting in 1998, a role he undertook after holding senior positions at the Dayton Hudson Foundation as senior program officer and manager of community relations at Target Stores in Minneapolis, MN. Earlier in his career, Cameron was the director of the theater for the National Endowment for the Arts from 1988 to 1992. His foundational theatrical experience includes serving as associate artistic director at the Indiana Repertory Theatre from 1981 to 1984 and as literary manager for PlayMakers Repertory Theatre from 1984 to 1986. He holds an MA from UNC and an MFA from Yale.

His Broadway performing career includes appearing in the original casts of “Footloose,” “Aida,” and “Wicked.” Cameron’s theatrical expertise extends to writing, directing, and choreographing intimate shows for Broadway and cabaret artists, showcased in notable NYC venues. He has produced web and TV content such as “My Broadway Bar,” “Dance Captain Dance Attack,” and “The Broadway Cast” podcast. Additionally, Cameron has been a host for several shows on WNET, including programs related to “Masterpiece Classics’ Downton Abbey New Year’s Marathon,” “Hamilton’s America,” and American Masters’ Norman Lear documentary.

Cameron’s commitment to the theatre community is further demonstrated through his creation of Broadway Sessions, a long-running musical theatre variety series now in its 13th season, which features Broadway talent. His one-man show, “Different is Good,” had two sold-out runs in 2005 and 2010. He has also served on the faculties of NYU’s CAP21 studio and Wagner College, and as a creative consultant for Mapinspired: The Storytellers’ Dance Company, continuing to teach dance and theatre workshops globally.
