Peter Rowsthorn

Peter Rowsthorn was born in Australia in 1963. He pursued higher education at Rusden College, now part of Deakin University, where he earned a teaching degree and initially worked as a drama teacher. His entertainment career began in 1983 as one half of the comedy and singing duo, The Cactus Brothers. He later gained recognition as a stand-up comic and as a performer and writer for the television series “The Comedy Company” in 1989. This early work established his presence in the Australian comedy scene and laid the groundwork for his extensive career in various media.

Rowsthorn’s career progressed with several significant acting roles that showcased his range. He appeared in the film “Crackers” in 1998 alongside Warren Mitchell and held a lead role in the children’s television show “The Gift” in 1997. He is widely recognized for his portrayal of Brett Craig in the popular Australian television series “Kath & Kim,” a role he maintained from 2002 to 2007 and reprised for the 2012 film “Kath & Kimderella” and the 2022 special “Kath and Kim: Our Effluent Life.” Beyond acting, Peter Rowsthorn was the host of the factual show “Can We Help?” on ABC TV from 2006 to 2011, demonstrating his abilities as a presenter.

His career also includes appearances in various Australian television programs such as “Thank God You’re Here,” “Celebrity Name Game,” “Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation,” “Studio 10,” “Show Me the Movie!,” and “Hughesy, We Have a Problem.” In 2018, Rowsthorn was a contestant on the fourth season of “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” (Australia), reaching 6th place after 40 days. More recently, in 2023, he participated in the celebrity edition of “The Amazing Race Australia” with his daughter, Frankie, and performed as Amos in the theatrical production of “Chicago.” He continues to expand his work in entertainment, with upcoming projects including the TV Mini Series “Reckless” in 2025 and the short film “Tradies.”
