Blake Jamieson, born in San Francisco, California, developed an early interest in drawing, carrying a sketchbook and drawing from a young age. He pursued a formal education at UC Davis, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics in 2010. Following his graduation, Jamieson entered the field of digital marketing, specializing in social media strategies during its early adoption phase by corporations. He worked in this capacity for several years, gaining experience in a new and evolving market landscape.
At the age of 30, Jamieson transitioned from his marketing career to focus on his artistic pursuits. He established a studio in a barn on his parents’ property in Novato, California. His initial artistic work involved creating portraits for office spaces, with commissions from companies such as Hint water in San Francisco and the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in Redwood City. A significant turning point in his career occurred in 2017 when former NFL player and agent Jarred Fayson suggested he paint portraits of athletes. This led to commissions for prominent athletes including Drew Brees and Terrell Owens, directing his focus towards sports portraits.
Jamieson’s artistic style is characterized by bold colors and pop art aesthetics, inspired by street art. His work caught the attention of Topps, a leading producer of sports cards, leading to a partnership for their Project 2020 series, where he reimagined classic baseball rookie cards. He continued this collaboration with Topps’ Project70 series. His portraits have been collected globally, and he has established a second studio in Manhattan, New York, where he hosts events. He has also explored digital art forms such as NFTs.
