Larry Sanders

Larry Sanders is a distinguished American professional basketball player known for his impactful career in the NBA. He began his journey at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he showcased his potential as a power forward. Under the guidance of head coach Anthony Grant, Sanders developed into a formidable player, earning consecutive CAA Defensive Player of the Year awards in 2008-09 and 2009-10. His junior year was particularly notable, as he averaged 14.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.6 blocks per game, leading to his decision to declare for the 2010 NBA Draft.

Selected 15th overall by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2010 NBA Draft, Sanders quickly made his mark in the league. He signed a multi-year contract with the Bucks and recorded his only career triple-double on November 30, 2012, with 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks. His defensive prowess earned him recognition, finishing second in blocks per game that season and placing third in the NBA Most Improved Player voting.

Despite facing challenges, including injuries and personal issues, Sanders remained a dedicated athlete. He signed a lucrative four-year contract extension with the Bucks in 2013, reflecting the team’s confidence in his abilities. After a brief hiatus from basketball, he returned to the sport in 2017, signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers and contributing to the team during his short stint.
