Bobby Moffett was born on June 1, 1990, in Harvey, Illinois. His athletic background began at a young age with karate training and wrestling from third grade through high school. This early exposure to combat sports laid the foundation for his professional mixed martial arts career. Moffett developed an interest in jiu-jitsu after watching “The Ultimate Fighter,” which solidified his ambition to become a fighter. He refined his skills, eventually earning a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Leo Valdes. His early mixed martial arts career saw him compile an amateur record of 6-0 before turning professional in 2013.
Moffett competed across various promotions in the United States, including Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) and Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA), establishing a professional record of 12-3. A significant turning point in his career came in 2018 when he participated in Dana White’s Contender Series 16. He secured a victory against Jacob Kilburn via submission (Brabo choke) and earned a contract with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). His UFC debut in November 2018 against Chas Skelly resulted in a controversial technical submission win that was later overturned to a no-contest. He continued to compete in the UFC, earning a “Fight of the Night” award against Bryce Mitchell in March 2019, despite losing the fight via unanimous decision. After a split decision loss to Enrique Barzola in August 2019, Moffett was released from the UFC.
Following his UFC tenure, Moffett joined the Professional Fighters League (PFL) in 2021, competing in the featherweight division. During his time with the PFL, he notably defeated Jason Knight by unanimous decision. After his PFL run, Moffett returned to the regional circuit, securing wins at Fury FC 57 in February 2022 and Freedom Fight Night 3 in November 2022, where he won via submission. In April 2023, he made his lightweight debut at RUF MMA 54, winning by rear-naked choke in the first round. Throughout his career, Moffett has been associated with prominent teams like The MMA Lab (2016–2019) and Fight Ready (2019–present), focusing on his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and overall fighting technique.
