Brandt Newell Snedeker was born on December 8, 1980, in Nashville, Tennessee, and was introduced to golf by his maternal grandmother. He attended Vanderbilt University, where he excelled, winning the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 2003. Turning professional in 2004, Snedeker honed his skills on the Nationwide Tour, securing two victories and finishing 9th on the money list in 2006, which earned him a spot on the PGA Tour. His career progression saw him quickly make an impact, earning PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in 2007, a testament to his consistent play and first PGA Tour victory at the Wyndham Championship. His successful rookie year included 23 cuts made in 29 events, six top-10 finishes, and earnings of over $2.8 million.
A significant turning point came in 2012 when Snedeker won the Tour Championship by Coca-Cola, securing the FedEx Cup. This victory propelled him into the top ten of the Official World Golf Ranking and marked a career high. He continued his success in 2013, reaching a career-high ranking of number four in the world after winning the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am and later the RBC Canadian Open.
