About

Born on February 5, 1976, in Wichita, Kansas, Brian Donald Moorman established a notable career in American football as a punter. Before his professional journey, Moorman distinguished himself at Pittsburg State University, where he became the first four-time All-American football player in the university’s history. He earned first-team NCAA Division II All-America honors as a punter in 1997 and 1998, holding the school’s career punting record with an average of 43.97 yards per punt. Beyond football, Moorman was a multi-sport athlete in college, achieving All-America honors ten times in track and field, including three consecutive NCAA Division II national championships in the 400-meter hurdles from 1997 to 1999. His physical and athletic prowess from his collegiate days laid a strong foundation for his subsequent success in the NFL.

Moorman’s NFL career began in 1999 when he was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent. His most significant tenure was with the Buffalo Bills, where he played from 2001 to 2012, and again in 2013. During his time with the Bills, Moorman solidified his reputation as one of the league’s top punters, earning two Pro Bowl selections in 2005 and 2006. He was also recognized with two First-team All-Pro honors in those same years. His consistent performance led to his inclusion on the NFL 2000s All-Decade Team and the Buffalo Bills 50th Anniversary Team. A notable moment in his career included signing a $10 million contract extension with the Bills in 2007, making him one of the highest-paid punters in the league at the time. He briefly played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2012 and was with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2013 offseason.

After 14 years in professional football, Moorman announced his retirement in 2014 following his second release from the Bills. Despite his extensive and decorated career, he uniquely holds the distinction of being the only member of the NFL’s 2000s All-Decade Team never to have played in a postseason game. Off the field, Moorman is the founder of the P.U.N.T. Foundation, which focuses on supporting children in Western New York battling life-threatening illnesses. This philanthropic endeavor highlights his commitment to community service beyond his athletic achievements. He has also transitioned into real estate, serving as a Senior Global Real Estate Advisor.
