Byron Garrett

Byron V. Garrett has a career that spans leadership roles in business, government, and non-profit sectors. He currently serves as the Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer at United Way Worldwide (UWW). In this role, he is responsible for the organization’s revenue diversification strategy, government partnerships, collaborations, and expanding program growth both in the United States and internationally. He also oversees the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP).

Before his tenure at UWW, Garrett held significant positions such as the President and CEO of the National Job Corps Association, where he advocated for policy and funding for over 100 youth campuses across the U.S. He was also the Chairman of the National Family Engagement Alliance and served as the Human Relations Commissioner for the City of Phoenix. Earlier in his career, he was the CEO of the National PTA and the first Chief of Staff for the Office of Public Affairs at U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Garrett has been influential in national initiatives, contributing to the ConnectED partnership with the White House during the Obama Administration and the Helping America’s Youth initiative for the Bush Administration, which brought together nine federal agencies to support youth outcomes. He holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix and a Bachelor of Arts in Human Relations from High Point University, and is an Ed.D. Candidate in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy at Pepperdine University. His leadership has been recognized, including being named on Ebony’s Power 150 Most Influential Black Americans and Black Enterprise’s Modern Man 100 list. He also served as Director of Educational Leadership & Policy for Microsoft and consults for Scholastic.
