The fantastic sportswoman Misato Nakamura is a judoka, who competes in the -52kg weight class. She has also been working as a TV judo commentator since 2018. She is a 3x World Champion, a 3x Asian Games Champion, a 3 x World Masters Champion, a 6x IJF Grand Slam Champion, a IJF Grand Prix Champion, and a 2x Olympic Medalist.
Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Nakamura started judo at a young age. She began taking part in junior and cadet championships, and in 2003, when she was 14-years-old, she won Gold in the -45kg weight class at the Asian Junior Championships. She took Gold again two years later at the Asian Championships, this time in the -48kg weight class, and a Bronze at the 2006 Asian Games.
Nakamura moved up to the -52kg weight class for the 2008 IJF Grand Slam in Tokyo, taking Silver, and that same year she represented Japan at the 2008 Beijing Olympics taking Bronze. Then between 2009 and 2016 she won an incredible six IJF Grand Slam Gold medals, as well as two Bronzes, a Gold and Silver at the IJF Grand Prix, two Golds and a Silver at the World Masters, three Asian Games Golds, and three Golds and a Silver at the World Championships. Then in 2016 she not only won her second Olympic medal, taking Bronze at Rio 2016, but also picked up her third World Masters Gold.
