Byron Leftwich

A two-time MAC Most Valuable Player and Offensive Player of the Year, Byron Leftwich established a formidable collegiate record before a distinguished NFL playing career and subsequent Super Bowl-winning coaching tenure. After earning MAC Most Valuable Player honors in both 2001 and 2002 and being recognized as MAC Offensive Player of the Year in the same years, Leftwich concluded his time at Marshall University with 11,903 passing yards, 89 touchdowns, and 28 interceptions. His exceptional performance led to him being selected seventh overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2003 NFL Draft. He quickly became the Jaguars’ starting quarterback, a role he maintained for four seasons from 2003 to 2006.

Leftwich’s coaching prowess reached its apex during his tenure as the offensive coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers from 2019 to 2022. Under his strategic guidance, the Buccaneers’ offense, notably featuring legendary quarterback Tom Brady, became one of the league’s most potent units. This culminated in a triumphant Super Bowl LV victory in 2021, a testament to his impactful leadership and scheme development.
