Cameron Munster

Cameron Munster was born on September 13, 1994, in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. His early rugby league career began with the North Knights as a five-eighth, transitioning to the Central Queensland Capras in the Queensland Cup. In June 2013, Munster signed a two-year contract with the Melbourne Storm. He debuted in the NRL in Round 12 of the 2014 season against the North Queensland Cowboys. He earned the Queensland Cup Rookie of the Year award on September 21, 2013, marking an early career achievement.

Munster’s career progression saw him fill the fullback position for the Storm in 2015 after an injury to Billy Slater, scoring his first NRL try and later a hat-trick against the Gold Coast Titans. By 2016, despite an early season ban from representative programs due to a curfew breach, he consistently played fullback and extended his contract with the Storm until the end of the 2019 season. In 2017, he shifted to five-eighth and made his State of Origin debut for Queensland, playing a key role in their series win. That year, he also helped the Storm win the NRL Grand Final and was selected for the 2017 Rugby League World Cup, making his test debut for Australia.

Over the years, Munster has achieved substantial success, including winning the 2018 World Club Challenge and the 2020 NRL Grand Final with the Melbourne Storm. He has consistently represented Queensland in the State of Origin, winning multiple series (2017, 2020, 2022, 2023, 2025) and earning the Wally Lewis Medal in 2020 for Player of the Series. Internationally, he contributed to Australia’s victory in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup (played in 2022). He was named Vice-Captain for the Melbourne Storm for the 2024 and 2025 seasons and secured his position as a ‘One-Club Man’ by extending his contract until the end of the 2027 season. In 2024, he was inducted as a Life Member of the Melbourne Storm. Munster married Bianca McMahon on December 31, 2023.
