Cameron Wake

Cameron Wake has transitioned from a highly decorated NFL athlete to an individual whose career achievements exemplify perseverance and dedication. After concluding his decorated collegiate career at Pennsylvania State University with 191 total tackles, 8.5 quarterback sacks, and 24 tackles for a loss, Cameron Wake went on to establish himself as a dominant force in professional football. He was named The Washington Post Defensive Player of the Year in 1999. Following a brief stint with the New York Giants in 2005, Wake ventured into the Canadian Football League (CFL) in 2007, signing with the BC Lions.

This move proved to be a significant turning point as he transitioned to defensive end, leading the CFL in sacks with 16 in 2007 and an unprecedented 23 in 2008. His exceptional performance earned him the CFL Most Outstanding Rookie Award and Defensive Player of the Year in 2007, making him the first player in CFL history to achieve both in the same season. He also received the Most Outstanding Defensive Player Award again in 2008 and was named to the CFL All-Decade Team for the 2000s. Wake’s exceptional run in the CFL garnered significant attention from NFL organizations, leading to a four-year deal with the Miami Dolphins in 2009.

During this season, he reached the monumental milestone of 100 career sacks, a testament to his longevity and consistent ability to disrupt opposing offenses, and also earned AFC Defensive Player of the Week for Week 1 of that season.
