Carla Bonner, born on March 3, 1973, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, is an Australian actress with a career spanning over two decades. She attended the Australian College of the Arts. Prior to her breakthrough role, Bonner gained experience through television commercials, corporate videos, and minor parts, including a guest appearance on ‘Raw FM’. Her significant career milestone began in 1999 when she was cast as Stephanie Scully in the long-running Australian soap opera ‘Neighbours’. She played this role consistently for eleven years, portraying a character that became widely recognized by audiences.
Bonner departed from ‘Neighbours’ in 2010 but left open the possibility for future returns due to her character not being killed off. After her initial departure, she expanded her professional endeavors beyond acting. In 2012, Bonner authored and published a dating advice book titled ‘Hook, Line and Sink Her’. The same year, she returned to ‘Neighbours’ for a two-month guest stint in 2013, reprising her role as Stephanie Scully. During this period, she also took on a guest role as Manda Katsis in the television series ‘Wentworth’. Following this, in September 2013, Bonner collaborated with writer and producer Gary O’Toole to develop a 12-part television series based on her book, ‘Hook, Line and Sink Her’.
Her career continued with diverse projects, including an appearance in the ABC3 teen drama ‘Ready for This’ in 2015. She then made a more substantial return to ‘Neighbours’ as a permanent cast member from October 2015 until June 2018. Bonner has also appeared in other television series such as ‘The Agent’ (2016) and ‘Superwog’ (2018), further diversifying her acting portfolio.
