Five-time Olympic champion Elaine Thompson-Herah is a fantastically talented athlete, who competes in the 60 metres, the 100 metres, and the 200 metres. She is regarded as one of the greatest sprinters of all time, and is the fastest woman alive over 100m. She is the first female in sprinter history to win the “sprint double” at consecutive Olympics, capturing 100m and 200m Gold at the 2016 Rio Olympics and then at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She also holds 3x Golds from the Commonwealth Games, a Gold from the Pan American Games, a World Championships Gold, and is a 3x winner of the Diamond League in the 100m
Born and raised in Jamaica, Thompson-Herah started running during her High-School years, and continued to compete when she attended the University of Technology, Jamaica, going on to claim Gold at the 2013 CAC Championships in the 4x 100m relay. She rose to prominence two years later at the 2015 World Athletics Championships where she picked up a Silver medal in the 200m. Then at the 2016 Rio Olympics she truly exploded onto the scene when she became the first woman since Florence Griffith-Joyner in 1988 to win Gold in the 100m and the 200m. Injury stalled her career for the next few years, but she rose again to the heady heights of Olympic Gold at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when she retained her 100m title in a new Olympic record of 10.61 seconds, as well as her 200m title in a new personal best and national record of 21.53s. After winning a third Olympic Gold in the 4x 100 relay, she became the third sprinter after Griffith-Joyner and Usain Bolt to complete an Olympic sprinting triple.
