Architect-turned-perfumer Carlos Huber designed commercial spaces for Polo Ralph Lauren before launching award-winning fragrance brand Arquiste Parfumeur. A renaissance man of sense and place whose in-depth knowledge of history and eye for taste have helped him create fragrances that evoke bygone atmospheres and past memories, he has garnered awards from the likes of Fashion Group International and the Fragrance Foundation establishing him as a fragrance designer committed to sustainability, authenticity and meticulous storytelling. In addition to his own brand, Huber has also developed fragrances for numerous other world-famous brands including Tequila Clase Azul, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, Vacation Inc, Trudon, The Sabah Dealer, El Palacio de Hierro, and J.Crew.
Born to a prominent family in Mexico City, Huber studied architecture at both the École Spéciale d’Architecture, Paris and Universidad Iberoamericana before studying Historic Preservation at Columbia University. Huber is fascinated by the history and architecture of his home country, and has also been an avid traveler since his youth. His diverse experience as an architect includes commercial and residential projects as well as art installations at historic sites.
After deciding to pursue a second career in perfume, Huber studied fragrance development, history and evaluation under master perfumer Rodrigo Flores-Roux. He then began to bridge the worlds of perfume history and architecture, creating Arquiste with perfumer Yann Vasnier and developing unique, rich and transportive fragrances that evoke historical experiences.
