Cavan Biggio

Cavan Thomas Biggio, born on April 11, 1995, in Houston, Texas, is the son of National Baseball Hall of Famer Craig Biggio. Growing up in a baseball environment, Biggio attended St. Thomas High School in Houston, where he excelled in both baseball and football before committing to collegiate baseball. He played three seasons at the University of Notre Dame from 2014 to 2016, where his performance as a second baseman earned him a Collegiate Rawlings Gold Glove Award in 2015. During his time at Notre Dame, he achieved a batting average of .272, with 34 doubles, seven triples, 15 home runs, 70 RBI, and an .831 OPS.

Biggio’s professional journey began when the Toronto Blue Jays drafted him in the fifth round of the 2016 MLB Draft. He steadily advanced through the minor league system, showcasing his versatility and plate discipline. In 2018, while playing for the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, he was named the Eastern League’s Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player, hitting .252 with 26 home runs and 99 RBI. His consistent performance led to his Major League Baseball debut with the Toronto Blue Jays on May 24, 2019. A notable career highlight occurred on September 17, 2019, when he hit for the cycle against the Baltimore Orioles, making him and his father the second father-son duo in MLB history to achieve this feat.

Throughout his MLB career, Biggio has demonstrated adaptability, playing various positions including second base, first base, third base, and all three outfield spots. He played for the Blue Jays until June 2024, followed by stints with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves in 2024, and the Kansas City Royals and Los Angeles Angels in 2025. In February 2026, he signed a minor league contract with the Houston Astros, returning to his hometown team.
