Lyndon Arthur, born on June 13, 1991, in Manchester, United Kingdom, embarked on his professional boxing journey on September 24, 2016, with a points victory over Andy Neylon at the Manchester Arena. His early career saw him accumulate a series of wins, often by knockout, establishing him as a formidable presence in the light-heavyweight division. Arthur’s disciplined training at Collyhurst and Moston boxing club from the age of 17, under the mentorship of his uncle Pat Barrett and trainer Brian Hughes, laid the foundation for his professional success. He transitioned from an amateur career that included reaching the finals of the ABA Elite Championships in 2014 and 2016.
A significant milestone in Arthur’s career occurred on October 12, 2019, when he secured the vacant Commonwealth Light Heavyweight title against Emmanuel Anim at the First Direct Arena in Leeds. This victory, achieved via unanimous decision after going beyond six rounds for the first time, underscored his capability in prolonged engagements. He successfully defended this title against Dec Spelman in July 2020. A pivotal moment for Arthur was his first encounter with Anthony Yarde on December 5, 2020, where he won by split decision, retaining his Commonwealth title and claiming the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Light Heavyweight title. This fight highlighted his strategic acumen and ability to perform under pressure on a significant stage.
After a loss in a rematch with Yarde in December 2021, Arthur demonstrated his ability to rebound by winning four subsequent fights. On September 1, 2023, he captured the vacant IBO World Light Heavyweight title by defeating Braian Nahuel Suarez via knockout in the 10th round. Although he later lost this title in a challenge for the WBA (super) light-heavyweight title against Dmitrii Bivol in December 2023, Arthur continues to compete at a high level. His upcoming challenge for the EBU European Light Heavyweight title against Bradley Rea in November 2025 further illustrates his ongoing pursuit of championship status and his consistent presence in high-profile boxing events.
