Cha Min-kyu

Cha Min-kyu has consistently demonstrated his elite speed skating capabilities, securing multiple Olympic silver medals and maintaining a position among the world’s top athletes in the 500m event. After claiming a silver medal in the 500m race at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, where he initially set an Olympic record of 34.42 seconds, Cha Min-kyu solidified his position as a world-class speed skater. Min-kyu transitioned to long track speed skating in 2011, having developed his skills at the Anyang Sports Complex. His early career progression was marked by resilience, notably overcoming a significant setback in 2013 when a torn ligament in his right ankle necessitated a year-long rehabilitation and prevented his participation in the 2013 National Selection Trials.

Looking ahead, his primary ambition is to secure a coveted gold medal at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games in Milan-Cortina, reinforcing his status among the elite in international speed skating.
