Charles Fleischer

An acclaimed actor, comedian, musician, and writer, Charles Fleischer began his professional career on ‘Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In’ in January 1973, followed by ‘The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson’ in May 1974. He quickly established himself in television, securing a recurring role as Carvelli in the 1970s series ‘Welcome Back, Kotter’ and appearing on ‘Laverne & Shirley.’ Fleischer expanded his acting portfolio as Dr. King in the 1984 horror film ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street,’ before achieving international recognition for his iconic voice performance as Roger Rabbit in the 1988 cinematic triumph ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit.’ In the groundbreaking film, Fleischer lent his distinct voice to the titular character, Benny the Cab, Greasy, and Psycho, solidifying his versatility. Following the widespread success of ‘Who Framed Roger Rabbit,’ Fleischer continued to voice the character across Disney television appearances, theme park attractions, and three dedicated follow-up shorts.

His diverse filmography continued into the late 1980s and 1990s, including a cameo as Terry in ‘Back to the Future Part II’ (1989), contributing additional story material for ‘The Prince and the Pauper’ (1990), voicing Dweeb in ‘We’re Back! A Dinosaur’s Story’ (1993), and on-screen roles as Wally Enfield in ‘Demon Knight’ (1995) and Mr. Woodson in ‘Gridlock’d’ (1997). He also performed as a guest harmonica player with the group Blues Traveler in 1995.

Most recently, Fleischer revisited his iconic role, voicing Roger Rabbit and the Chipmunks TV Announcer in Disney’s ‘Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers’ (2022). His dynamic contributions extend to immersive experiences, notably starring in a video for Disneyland’s Space Mountain as a charismatic used spaceship salesman. Fleischer frequently performs at improvisational theatre venues, further showcasing his spontaneous comedic genius and enduring appeal across multiple entertainment platforms.
