Charlie Morton

A two-time World Series champion and two-time All-Star, Charlie Morton has established himself as one of Major League Baseball’s most resilient and impactful pitchers across a career spanning over two decades. Morton began his professional journey after being drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the third round of the 2002 MLB draft, making his MLB debut with the team on June 14, 2008. Traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2009, Morton spent 2009 to 2015 developing his craft. He refined his pitching style, adopting a potent curveball and increased fastball velocity, even after undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2012.

His contributions were recognized with a one-year extension signed with the Braves later in 2021. Demonstrating enduring consistency and elite skill, Morton went on to record two consecutive 200-strikeout seasons in 2022, further cementing his reputation as a formidable presence on the mound. Morton’s longevity and adaptability continued to define his career into 2024, when he achieved the rare milestone of recording a win against all 30 Major League Baseball teams. The same year, he reached the impressive benchmark of 2,000 career strikeouts.

In 2025, after signing a one-year contract with the Baltimore Orioles and subsequently being traded to the Detroit Tigers, Morton became the first pitcher since 1927 to hit 200 batters. His remarkable career concluded in 2025, following a major league contract with the Atlanta Braves and his last MLB appearance that year.
