Cheryl Forberg is a James Beard Award-winning professional chef and registered dietitian. She pursued her culinary education at the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco and earned her B.S. in Nutrition from the University of California, Berkeley. She also holds a bachelor’s degree in French from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Forberg began her career working as a chef for various Bay Area restaurants, including Wolfgang Puck’s Postrio Restaurant in San Francisco for three years. Her career progressed to working as a private chef for filmmaker George Lucas and his family.

Forberg continued to build her expertise in nutrition and dietetics. She studied the effects of conjugated linoleic acid on lean body mass at the USDA Center for Human Nutrition in San Francisco. Following this, she became the Research Dietitian for Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, California, and a recipe developer for the UCLA Department of Clinical Nutrition. She also served as the Health Editor for Cooking.com. A significant turning point in her career was her role as the chef and nutritionist for NBC’s “The Biggest Loser,” where she provided cooking and nutrition guidance to contestants for seventeen seasons.

Her work extends to authorship, with multiple New York Times bestselling cookbooks including “The Biggest Loser: The Weight Loss Program” (2005) and “Flavor First” (2011). She has also contributed to various publications such as the Huffington Post, The Washington Post, and EatingWell, where she is a contributing writer. Forberg has been a brand ambassador for the American Pistachio Growers and has developed recipes for “The New Mayo Clinic Cookbook” (2005), which received a James Beard Cookbook Award. She currently lives in Napa, California, and maintains an active presence in the health and wellness community.
