About

James Chris Cole, born on March 10, 1982, in Statesville, North Carolina, moved to Philadelphia at a young age and grew up in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. Early in his career, Cole distinguished himself by successfully performing difficult skateboarding tricks, such as a 360 flip, Switch Frontside flip, and Backside 360 ollie down the staircase at Wallenberg High School in San Francisco, California. He further solidified his reputation with a Backside 360 Kickflip down the Carlsbad gap in Carlsbad, California, and the Martin Place Amphitheatre in Sydney, Australia. Most notably, he executed a Backside flip, Switch Frontside flip, and a Backside 360 ollie down the ‘Love Park’ fountain in Philadelphia, showcased in his Transworld In Bloom and Fallen Ride the Sky video parts.

Cole’s competitive achievements include multiple gold medals at the X Games in Street and Street Best Trick categories, winning consecutively in 2006 and 2007 in Los Angeles. He also secured gold in Street League Skateboarding at the 2013 Munich and New Jersey X Games. He received Thrasher Magazine’s prestigious ‘Skater of the Year’ award in both 2005 and 2009, a rare accomplishment shared by only a few others. His team, Zero, won Thrasher Magazine’s ‘King of the Road’ contest three times consecutively. Cole also claimed victory in contests such as Back to the Berg and the DC Copenhagen Pro. He was victorious in the first three rounds of the Maloof Money Cup.

Beyond his athletic pursuits, Cole has ventured into business. He was a co-owner of Reign Skate Shop in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, and a former shareholder of Zero Skateboards, a company he joined as a shareholder in 2011 after 13 years as a team rider. In 2014, he exited his shareholder role with Zero, clarifying that his shares were contingent on the company’s sale, which did not occur. He also founded the skateboard clothing company Omit Apparel in 2011, which ceased operations in late 2012. Additionally, Cole co-owns Cult, a BMX company that sponsors a team of riders, demonstrating his continued influence and involvement across action sports.
