Chris Evans

Christopher Robert Evans was born on June 13, 1981, in Boston, Massachusetts, and raised in Sudbury. His mother, Lisa (née Capuano), worked as an artistic director at the Concord Youth Theatre, and his father, G. Robert Evans III, was a dentist. Inspired by his older sister, Carly, Evans developed an interest in acting early on, participating in school productions and community theater. Before his senior year of high school at Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School, he pursued acting studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Evans secured an internship at a casting office, which eventually led to him signing with an agent and focusing on film and television. His early career included appearances in television series such as “The Fugitive” (2000-2001) and “Boston Public” (2000-2004), alongside early film roles in “Cherry Falls” (1999) and “The Newcomers” (2000). He gained wider recognition for his role in the teen comedy spoof “Not Another Teen Movie” (2001).

Evans’ career progressed with lead roles in films like the thriller “Cellular” (2004) and the heist-comedy “The Perfect Score” (2004). A significant turning point came with his portrayal of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch, in “Fantastic Four” (2005) and its sequel “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” (2007), which brought him into the mainstream. Beyond comic book adaptations, he explored diverse genres, including Danny Boyle’s science fiction film “Sunshine” (2007) and the romantic drama “The Nanny Diaries” (2007). In 2010, he took on the role of Captain Jake Jensen in “The Losers” and Lucas Lee in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.” Later, he starred as a real-life young lawyer and drug addict in the drama “Puncture” (2011).

The defining role of his career arrived when he was cast as Steve Rogers, Captain America, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This iconic role spanned multiple films, starting with “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011) and continuing through “The Avengers” (2012), “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” (2014), “Avengers: Age of Ultron” (2015), “Captain America: Civil War” (2016), “Avengers: Infinity War” (2018), and concluding with “Avengers: Endgame” (2019). These films solidified his status as a global actor and contributed to him becoming one of the highest-grossing film stars of all time. Outside of the MCU, Evans made his directorial debut with the romantic drama “Before We Go” (2014), in which he also starred. He has since continued to diversify his roles, including the family drama “Gifted” (2017) and the critically acclaimed mystery film “Knives Out” (2019), demonstrating his range beyond superhero characters. He also made his Broadway debut in the 2018 revival of Kenneth Lonergan’s play “Lobby Hero”, earning a Drama League Award nomination. Most recently, he starred in “The Gray Man” (2022) and voiced Buzz Lightyear in “Lightyear” (2022), and reprised his role as Lucas Lee in the animated series “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off” (2023).
