Christian Walker

Christian Dickson Walker, born on March 28, 1991, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, established his baseball career early. He graduated from Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic High School in 2009 and later attended the University of South Carolina, where his collegiate career was highly decorated. Playing for the South Carolina Gamecocks from 2010 to 2012, Walker contributed to back-to-back National Championships in 2010 and 2011, and was part of the team that reached the College World Series finals in 2012. He logged 28 career hits in the College World Series, matching the tournament’s historical record.

Walker was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round of the 2012 MLB Draft. He made his Major League Baseball debut with the Orioles on September 17, 2014. After multiple claims off waivers by various teams including the Atlanta Braves and Cincinnati Reds, Walker was acquired by the Arizona Diamondbacks in March 2017. He became the Diamondbacks’ full-time first baseman in 2019 following the trade of Paul Goldschmidt. During his tenure with the Diamondbacks, Walker consistently demonstrated strong defensive and offensive capabilities, becoming a two-time winner of the “Good Guy Award” by the Arizona chapter of the BBWAA, recognizing his positive relationship with the media.

His career highlights with the Diamondbacks include setting multiple career highs in games played, home runs, and RBIs. He won three consecutive Rawlings NL Gold Glove Awards at first base from 2022 to 2024, an achievement that solidified his reputation as one of the best defensive first basemen in MLB. In 2023, he played a crucial role in leading the Diamondbacks to the National League pennant and a World Series appearance. In December 2024, Walker signed a three-year contract with the Houston Astros, continuing his professional journey as a key player.
