Christian Wilkins was born on December 20, 1995, in Springfield, Massachusetts. He attended Framingham High School before transferring to Suffield Academy in Connecticut. During his high school career, Wilkins recorded 253 tackles and 28.5 sacks over 35 games. He was recognized as a five-star recruit and committed to Clemson University for his college football career.
At Clemson, Wilkins played in 15 games as a freshman in 2015, accumulating 33 tackles and two sacks. In 2016, he earned All-American honors and was a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy. Wilkins was a key part of two College Football Playoff National Championship-winning teams with Clemson, in 2016 and 2018. During his college career, he scored touchdowns in games against Florida State and South Carolina in 2018, demonstrating his versatility.
Wilkins was drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the first round as the 13th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. He contributed immediately, recording his first career sack in Week 9 of his rookie season and his first career touchdown reception in Week 16. In 2020, he secured his first career interception. The Dolphins exercised his fifth-year option in 2022. Wilkins concluded the 2023 season with a career-high nine sacks, solidifying his position as a top defensive player. In 2024, he signed a four-year, $110 million deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. He played in five games for the Raiders before a foot injury sidelined him for the season, leading to his eventual release.
