Christina Applegate is an American dancer and actress known
for performing across film, television and stage. Best known for her portrayal
of Kelly Bundy in Fox Network’s hit series Married…With Children, she’s also
enjoyed starring roles in comedies Anchorman and Bad Moms. Applegate’s eleven-year
portrayal of Kelly Bundy in the massively successful sitcom, Married… with
Children made her household name. Her later appearance on Friends as Amy Green,
Jennifer Aniston’s on-screen sister, won her critical praise and further
popularity.
In 1995, Applegate featured in three films: Vibrations,
Across the Moon and Wild Bill and the following year she went on to work with
critically acclaimed director Tim Burton on the iconic cult classic Mars
Attacks! Not long after, Applegate was cast in the action-comedy The Big Hit
and Jane Austen’s Mafia. She later returned to television after landing the titular
role in hit NBC sitcom Jesse, earning a People’s Choice Award for Favourite
Female Performer in a New TV series and the TV Guide Award for Star of a New
Series, in addition to a Golden Globe nomination.
Alongside her television roles, Applegate’s film career
continued with Just Visiting and Prince Charming. She starred as Courtney
Rockcliffe alongside Cameron Diaz in The Sweetest Thing before portraying TV
anchorwoman Veronica Corningstone in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy and its
immensely popular sequel. She has also appeared in Hall Pass, Vacation, and Bad
Moms. Most recently, Applegate was cast alongside Linda Cardellini in Netflix’s
dark comedy series Dead to Me, a programme she is executive producing with Will
Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Jessica Elbaum.
