Rhona Mitra

Rhona Mitra was born on August 9, 1976, in Paddington, London, England. Her father is of Bengali Indian and English descent, and her mother is Irish. In 1984, at the age of eight, her parents divorced, and she attended boarding school at institutions such as Roedean. Mitra gained early recognition as the live-action model for Lara Croft in Eidos Interactive’s “Tomb Raider” video game series in 1997. She appeared in various television and film projects, including a recurring role in “Party of Five” (1999–2000) as Scott Wolf’s love interest and a key role in the film “Hollow Man” (2000).

Her career continued with significant roles in television dramas such as “Gideon’s Crossing” (2000) as Dr. Alejandra Ollie Klein. Mitra transitioned to legal dramas, starring as Tara Wilson in the final season of “The Practice” (2003–2004) and its spin-off “Boston Legal” (2004–2005), before departing during the second season. She later played Kit McGraw in “Nip/Tuck” (2005). In film, she took on lead roles such as Major Eden Sinclair in the science fiction/action film “Doomsday” (2008) and Sonja in “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” (2009).

Mitra further expanded her television work with roles like Major Rachel Dalton in “Strike Back” (2012–2013) and Dr. Rachel Scott in the first two seasons of “The Last Ship” (2014–2015). More recently, she appeared as Mercy Graves in The CW series “Supergirl” (2018), and Dr. Mal in the sci-fi film “Skylines” (2020). Her upcoming projects include the film “Red Sonja” (2025) and the miniseries “Debriefing the President” (2025). Outside of acting, Mitra founded The Last Ark Orphanage in Uruguay, an initiative focused on rewilding and rehabilitating animals.
