Ciarán Dowd

Ciarán Dowd, born on December 21, 1984, in Drogheda, Ireland, is an actor, comedian, and writer based in London. He received his training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Dowd gained recognition as one-third of the sketch group BEASTS. His early career included roles in television series such as “Torchwood” in 2006, where he appeared as a Barman, establishing his presence in the acting field. He later expanded his work to include writing, contributing to three episodes of the TV series “Off Their Rockers” in 2016.

Dowd’s career advanced significantly in 2018 when he won the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer, a recognition for his solo work. This award highlighted his talent as a comedian and writer. Following this, he appeared in the film “Fighting with My Family” in 2019 as a Heckler. He also took on diverse roles in television, including “The Reluctant Landlord” (2019) as Street Warden Wayne Lamb, “The Duchess” (2020) as Dave, and “Semi-Detached” (2020) as Nurse Patrick. His acting appearances continued with roles in “Jerk” (2021) and the podcast series “Hidden Ireland” (2020-2021), where he played various characters across five episodes.

In recent years, Dowd has continued his work in television acting, notably in “Marriage” (2022) as Padraig and “Bad Sisters” (2022) as Male Garda. He also appeared in the short film “The Snip” (2023) as Tony and the short “Diane from Accounts” (2023) as Dave. In 2024, he participated in “8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown” as a Dictionary Corner Guest. Dowd has also written and created projects, including the TV special “Don Rodolfo” in 2021, showcasing his abilities as both a performer and a creative force.
