Corin Nemec

Joseph Charles Nemec IV, professionally known as Corin Nemec, was born on November 5, 1971, in Little Rock, Arkansas. His mother, Janis, was a graphic artist, painter, poet, and writer, while his father, Joseph Charles Nemec III, worked as a set designer and production designer in the film industry. Nemec’s older sister, Anastacia C. Nemec, is an assistant director. Growing up, Nemec was influenced by his parents’ artistic careers. He decided to pursue acting at the age of 13 after watching the film ‘The Goonies,’ a project his father had contributed to as an art director. In his teenage years, Nemec also became active in the graffiti art scene in the San Fernando Valley and was involved with street gangs.

Nemec’s acting career began after training with the Centre Stage LA theater company and securing an agent. He appeared in various commercials, including one for Suzuki, and had a guest role on the TV show ‘Sidekicks’ alongside Ernie Reyes Jr. His first significant film role was in ‘Tucker: The Man and His Dream’ in 1988. He gained further recognition and an Emmy nomination in 1989 for his portrayal of Steven Stayner in the NBC miniseries ‘I Know My First Name Is Steven.’ He starred in the science fiction film ‘Solar Crisis’ in 1990, alongside actors such as Jack Palance and Charlton Heston.

From 1990 to 1993, Nemec played the lead character, Parker Lewis, in the sitcom ‘Parker Lewis Can’t Lose.’ In 1993, he was cast as Harold Lauder in the television adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Stand.’ A notable role during his later career was Jonas Quinn in the science fiction series ‘Stargate SG-1,’ appearing in season 5 as a guest and then as a main cast member in season 6, before returning for a guest appearance in season 7. Nemec has also taken on roles in television movies, including ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ and ‘Blackout,’ and has been featured in various TV series such as ‘CSI: NY,’ ‘Smallville,’ and ‘Supernatural.’
