D.B. Woodside

David Bryan Woodside was born on July 25, 1969, in Jamaica, Queens, New York City. He pursued his education at the State University of New York at Albany, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Later, he earned his Master of Fine Arts from the esteemed Yale School of Drama, establishing a strong foundation in his craft. His professional acting career began in 1996, in the second season of the television series “Murder One.” He continued to build his resume with guest appearances on various shows such as “The Practice,” “Snoops,” “The Division,” and “Once and Again.” In 1998, Woodside portrayed bass singer Melvin Franklin in “The Temptations” miniseries, showcasing his range. His early film work included “Scar City” (1998) and “Romeo Must Die” (2000). From 2002 to 2003, Woodside gained recognition for his role as Principal Robin Wood in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer,” appearing in 14 episodes of its final season. This was followed by a prominent role in the thriller series “24” as Wayne Palmer, initially appearing in season three and later becoming a series regular in season six as the President of the United States. He also took on directorial and writing duties for the short film “First.” in 2007, expanding his creative contributions beyond acting.

Throughout his career, Woodside has consistently taken on diverse roles and projects, demonstrating adaptability and commitment to his profession. His television credits include recurring roles as Malcolm Franks in “Single Ladies” (2011–2014), Dr. Joseph Prestridge in “Parenthood” (2011–2012), and Jeff Malone in “Suits” (2014–2018), later reprising the role in the spin-off series “Pearson” (2019). He also appeared in films such as “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” (2015) and “The Perfect Find” (2023). A significant role in his career is his portrayal of the angel Amenadiel in the Fox/Netflix series “Lucifer” from 2016 to 2021, spanning 80 episodes. More recently, he was seen as Erik Monks in the Netflix series “The Night Agent” (2023) and Trevor Parks in “9-1-1: Lone Star” (2023-2024), maintaining a steady presence in popular television productions. He is slated to appear in an upcoming short movie “Taken at a Basketball Game” as Wayne Edwards and “Fighting to Be Me: The Dwen Curry Story” as Uncle Leon, both in 2025. In addition to his acting, he directed an episode of “Lucifer” in 2021, further solidifying his diverse skill set in the entertainment industry. Adding to his entrepreneurial ventures, in 2023, D.B. Woodside partnered with publicist Erin Kyle Osborne to establish Blue City Entertainment, a new company in the entertainment sector.
