David “D.B” Woodside is an experienced American actor best known to TV fans for playing Jeff Malone in four seasons of Suits, Amenadiel in DC Comics-based fantasy series Lucifer, and Malcolm Franks in the first three seasons of VH1 comedy-drama Single Ladies. His other major contributions to American television during the last 25 years include playing Melvin Franklin in an award-winning miniseries about soul legends The Temptations as well as roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, 24, Parenthood, and many others. His most recent roles include voicing the Phantom Stranger in the fourth season of Young Justice.
Woodside hails from Jamaica in the NYC borough of Queens. He graduated from the prestigious Yale School of Drama and got off to a great start when he landed a recurring role in his very first on-screen job: playing Aaron Moseley in ABC’s Murder One, which won major awards in both the US and the UK. He followed this in 1998 with his role in The Temptations, which won an NAACP Image Award. For two years in the early 2000s, he was a regular in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, playing Robin Wood. He then appeared in the third, fifth, and sixth seasons of the classic 24 series, playing Chief of Staff Wayne Fox.
Rarely short of a long-running role, Woodside found further fame when he played Jeff Malone in Suits, an acclaimed legal drama which again won numerous awards. But his talent isn’t just limited to TV; he has also appeared in several films, including dramas such as Mississippi Damned and comedys such as Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2.
