About

Dan Senor was born Daniel Samuel Senor on November 6, 1971, in Utica, New York. He grew up in Toronto, Ontario, the youngest of four children. His educational background includes undergraduate studies at the University of Western Ontario and Hebrew University of Jerusalem, followed by an MBA from Harvard Business School. Senor’s early career involved significant time on Capitol Hill, working as a Legislative Aide, Press Secretary, and Communications Director for then-Senator Spencer Abraham (R-MI) in the 1990s. He also worked for Senator Connie Mack III (R-FL) and at AIPAC during this period, developing an understanding of political and international affairs.

From 2001 to 2003, Senor transitioned into finance, serving as an investment banker at The Carlyle Group. A pivotal point in his career came during Operation Iraqi Freedom and its aftermath, where he played a key role in U.S. government efforts. He served as Director of the Coalition Information Center at Centcom Headquarters in Qatar, and later as a Senior Advisor to Presidential Envoy L. Paul Bremer III, Administrator of the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) in Iraq. He formally relocated to Baghdad in April 2003, serving as Chief Spokesperson for the CPA and an adviser to the Office of Reconstruction and Humanitarian Assistance. His 15 months in Iraq made him one of the longest-serving American civilians there at the time, and his service earned him the Department of Defense Distinguished Civilian Service Award.

Beyond his government service, Senor is a recognized author and commentator. He co-authored the New York Times bestselling book “Start-up Nation: The Story of Israel’s Economic Miracle” (2009) and later “The Genius of Israel: The Surprising Resilience of a Divided Nation in a Turbulent World” (2023). He has been an Adjunct Senior Fellow for Middle East Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations and a frequent contributor to reputable publications such as The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and The Washington Post. He has also hosted investigative documentaries for Fox News, where he is a contributor. Furthermore, Senor has held significant advisory roles in presidential campaigns, including as a foreign policy advisor to Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign and a senior advisor to former Speaker Paul Ryan’s campaign for vice president. He is currently a Partner and Chief Public Affairs Officer at Elliott Investment Management LP, having joined Elliott in 2010 and becoming a partner in 2022.
