Kyle Hamilton was born on March 16, 2001, in Heraklion, Crete, Greece. His father, Derrick Hamilton, was a professional basketball player, and Kyle briefly lived in Russia before his family settled in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. He attended Marist School in Brookhaven, Georgia, where he excelled in both safety and wide receiver positions for the football team. His collegiate career began at the University of Notre Dame in 2019, where he quickly made an impact. In his second game, he recorded a 35-yard interception return for his first career touchdown. He earned Freshman All-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America.
During his sophomore year in 2020, Hamilton became a starter, achieving First-Team All-ACC status with 63 tackles, six pass breakups, and an interception. In 2021, despite a knee injury limiting him to seven games, he was recognized as a consensus All-American, recording 34 combined tackles, three interceptions, and four pass deflections. He declared for the 2022 NFL Draft, where he was selected 14th overall by the Baltimore Ravens. Hamilton signed a rookie contract on June 7, 2022, marking the beginning of his professional career.
