Danica McKellar is an American actress and inspirational
mathematics author, best known for her portrayal of Winnie Cooper in the
popular television series The Wonder Years, and for her starring role in
Netflix series Project Mc2. In her teens, McKellar landed a prominent role in
ABC’s comedy-drama series The Wonder Years, for which she was nominated for two
Young Artist Awards. Her role in the Wonder Years led to several other castings
in television, including the Moment of Truth, Cradle of Conspiracy, Justice for
Annie, Crown for Christmas, My Christmas Dream and Campfire Kiss.
In 2001 McKellar wrote, produced and directed the award-winning
short film, Speechless. She then went on to feature in a variety of popular
television series, including The West Wing, The Big Bang Theory, NYPD Blue,
NCIS and How I Met Your Mother. In 2006, McKellar starred in the television
movie and web-based series Inspector Mom, before the Sci-Fi Channel later chose
her for leading roles in television films Heatstroke and Alfred Hitchcock
remake, The Wrong Man.
In addition to her acting work, McKellar has used her
expertise in mathematics to author six inspirational non-fiction books aimed at
young girls: Math Doesn’t Suck, Kiss My Math, Hot X: Algebra Exposed and Girls
Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape, Goodnight, Numbers, and Do Not Open This Math
Book. In 2015, she was cast by Netflix, in the popular teen series Project Mc2.
A talented voice actress, McKellar currently voices the character of Judy
Jetson in The Jetsons.
