Daniel Thrasher

Daniel Cole Thrasher was born on February 24, 1993, in Roanoke, Virginia. The youngest of four children, Thrasher developed an early interest in the arts, attending Pinellas County Center for the Arts. He later graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2015 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performing Arts. Thrasher initiated his YouTube presence in 2007, originally under the channel name ‘muffinman3000’, with his first video uploaded in 2011. A pivotal moment in his early career came in 2012 with the viral success of his video “How I Accidentally Wrote The Office Theme Song,” which gained over 22 million views and brought significant attention to his channel.

In 2019, Thrasher made the decision to pursue YouTube as a full-time career, leaving his job as a barista. By this time, his channel had already surpassed one million subscribers. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, his subscriber count nearly tripled, reflecting a significant period of growth and audience engagement. This expansion allowed him to increase his production team to four individuals. His work has covered diverse genres including music, sketch comedy, ‘Let’s Play’ videos, and vlogs, all featuring his musical talents across instruments such as piano, guitar, accordion, bagpipes, sousaphone, and theremin.

Thrasher’s career progression includes significant collaborations and recognition within the entertainment industry. In 2021, Rhett & Link’s Mythical Entertainment launched the Mythical Creator Accelerator fund, investing $5 million into creators, and Thrasher became one of the beneficiaries in April 2022. This investment supported his continued growth and content creation. He has also ventured into live performances, including a one-day show in 2021 at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles titled ‘Daniel Thrasher: Laugh or Die’, followed by a five-show ‘Daniel Thrasher Live’ tour across the Midwest in 2022. His acting credits include a role in the 2018 film ‘Song of Back and Neck’ and a main role as Gregg Langer in the 2024 Amazon Freevee sitcom ‘Dinner with the Parents’. He received a nomination for the Craft Award for Writing at the 12th Streamy Awards in October 2022 and has been a featured creator at VidCon in June 2023.
