About

Daphne Nur Oz was born on February 17, 1986, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She is the eldest child of television personalities Mehmet and Lisa Oz. Raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, she graduated from Dwight-Englewood School in 2004. In 2008, Oz earned a degree in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University. Further expanding her knowledge in health and food, she became a graduate of the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and received a culinary degree from The Natural Gourmet Institute. Her early career also involved contributing to the founding of HealthCorps in 2003, a non-profit organization focused on providing nutrition, exercise, and stress management education to teenagers, underscoring her commitment to public health from an early age.

Oz’s career as an author began with her national bestseller, “The Dorm Room Diet: The 10-Step Program for Creating A Healthy Lifestyle Plan That Really Works” (2006). This book detailed her personal success in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and losing 40 pounds during her college years, receiving media coverage from The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and People magazine. She followed this with “The Dorm Room Diet Planner” in 2007. Her literary contributions continued with “Relish: An Adventure in Food, Style, and Everyday Fun,” a New York Times bestseller (2013), and “The Happy Cook: 125 Recipes for Eating Every Day Like It’s the Weekend” (2016), which was praised by The New York Times for its well-designed and stress-free recipes. She also contributed articles to Glamour and The Huffington Post, and had a column titled “Food for Thought” for Creators Syndicate in 2012.

Her television career commenced with her role as one of five co-hosts on ABC’s daytime talk show “The Chew,” which premiered in September 2011. During her six seasons on the show, she earned a Daytime Emmy Award in 2015 for Outstanding Informative Talk Show Host, shared with her co-hosts. After departing “The Chew” in 2017, Oz continued her television presence with appearances as a guest co-host on “The View” and “Beat Bobby Flay.” She became a judge on the eighth season of “MasterChef Junior” (2019), joining Gordon Ramsay and Aarón Sanchez. In 2022, she hosted “The Good Dish,” a spinoff show that replaced “The Dr. Oz Show” during her father’s U.S. Senate campaign. Oz further maintains a consistent media presence with regular contributions to programs like “Good Morning America,” “The Rachael Ray Show,” and “The Today Show.”
