Darcy Rose Byrnes

Darcy Rose Byrnes began her performing career at the age of three. At five, in 2003, she secured her first television role as ‘Abby’ in the CBS soap opera “The Young & the Restless,” a role she maintained until 2008. During this period, she also appeared as a recurring guest star in “The Bold and the Beautiful.” Her early work also included roles in shows such as “How I Met Your Mother,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “Cold Case,” “Dirty Sexy Money,” and “House.” From 2010 to 2012, Byrnes portrayed ‘Penny Scavo’ in the hit drama series “Desperate Housewives,” further establishing her presence in the television industry. Her career progression included an early pre-nomination for an Emmy for her portrayal of Abby on “The Young & the Restless,” highlighting her early recognition in the field.

Following her work on “Desperate Housewives,” Darcy Rose Byrnes shifted her focus to voice acting. She became known as the singing and speaking voice of ‘Princess Amber’ in “Sofia the First” (2012-2018) and “Elena of Avalor” (2016-2020), ‘Ikki’ in “The Legend of Korra” (2012-2014), and ‘Maricela’ in Dreamworks’ Netflix series “Spirit: Riding Free” (2017-2020). Byrnes is also a professionally trained dancer, having begun ballroom and Latin dance at age eleven. She achieved first place in all rounds at The Las Vegas Lights Dance Challenge in 2018 and a first-place medal at The Hollywood DanceSport Championships for a rumba danced to her own song, “Chasin’ the Picture.” She is also a prolific writer, with over 200 songs and proficiency in 20 instruments, and is fluent in American Sign Language.

More recently, from 2021 to 2022, Darcy Rose Byrnes took on the role of ‘Harper,’ a journalist, in Disney+’s dramedy series “Big Shot,” starring John Stamos. For this project, she was actively involved in writing and arranging musical numbers, including “Double Double” and “Fight for the Crown.” In 2024, she starred as Mary Lane in the 25th Anniversary revival of “Reefer Madness: The Musical” at the Whitley Theatre in Hollywood, CA, a production co-produced by Kristen Bell. Her performance was noted by Chris Willman of Variety, who described her as a “real songbird.” Byrnes also studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London for a summer intensive and graduated from Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) in 2018, where she focused on longform, specialty, and musical improv. She has also produced musical improv and stand-up comedy shows, winning awards at the Hollywood Fringe and Burbank Comedy Festival.
