Davante Lavell Adams was born on December 24, 1992, in East Palo Alto, California. He attended Palo Alto High School, where he excelled in both football and basketball. As a senior in high school, he led his football team to a CIF state championship, recording 64 receptions for 1,094 yards and 12 touchdowns. Additionally, he contributed on defense with 44 tackles, two forced fumbles, and an interception. Adams committed to play college football at Fresno State after receiving offers from several universities.
At Fresno State, Adams redshirted his true freshman year in 2011. He quickly became a key player in his 2012 season under new head coach Tim DeRuyter, leading the Mountain West Conference in receptions (102), receiving yards (1,312), and touchdowns (14). His performance earned him the conference’s Freshman of the Year award and freshman All-American honors. In his 2013 season, Adams continued to impress, leading the nation with 131 receptions for 1,719 yards and 24 touchdowns. His 24 touchdown receptions set a Mountain West Conference record and ranked fourth in single-season FBS history. Following a highly productive college career, Adams decided to forgo his final two seasons and entered the 2014 NFL Draft.
Adams was drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the second round, 53rd overall, in the 2014 NFL Draft. During his eight seasons with the Packers, he became a dominant force, forming a strong connection with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. He earned multiple Pro Bowl selections and was named First-team All-Pro twice. In 2020, he led the league in receiving touchdowns with 18, setting a franchise record with 115 receptions. After contract negotiations, Adams was traded to the Las Vegas Raiders in 2022, where he signed a five-year, $141 million contract, becoming the highest-paid wide receiver at the time. He continued his success with the Raiders, leading the league in receiving touchdowns in 2022 and setting a new franchise record for receiving yards. In 2024, he was traded to the New York Jets, reuniting with Aaron Rodgers, and then signed a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Rams in 2025.
