United States David Del Rio is a versatile actor, director, and producer with a career spanning film, television, and theater, who has transitioned from early television roles to significant projects while also establishing a production company and mentoring aspiring talent.
David Del Rio co-founded this production company with his wife, Katherine Del Rio, focusing on championing creative voices in theater and film. Their first feature film, "The Big Feed," is currently in post-production.
David Del Rio is part of this mentoring program, which provides high school students with an online community of professional mentors, empowering them to thrive in school and plan for future careers.
Born in Miami, Florida, in 1987, David Del Rio is a Colombian-Cuban American actor, director, and producer. He pursued his passion for performance by graduating from New World School of the Arts in Miami in 2006, and later honed his skills at the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, School of Film and Television, completing his studies in 2009. His professional acting career commenced with the role of Felix Garcia on Nickelodeon’s “The Troop,” appearing in 29 episodes between 2009 and 2011. During this period, he also made his Broadway debut in Lin Manuel Miranda’s critically acclaimed musical “In the Heights” as Sonny de la Vega, demonstrating his ability to perform across different mediums.
Del Rio’s career continued with roles in feature films such as Universal’s “Pitch Perfect” (2012), where he played Kolio, and Blumhouse’s “The Belko Experiment” (2016), portraying Roberto Jerez. He also featured in Netflix’s “A California Christmas” (2020) as Manny and its sequel “A California Christmas: City Lights” (2021). His television work includes appearances in Fox’s “Grease Live!” (2016) in the role of Putzie, and starring in ABC’s romantic comedy “The Baker and The Beauty” (2020) as Mateo Garcia across nine episodes. More recently, he took on the co-lead role of Ben in Hulu’s series “Maggie” (2022) with Rebecca Rittenhouse, spanning 13 episodes. In 2024, Del Rio was cast as series regular Billy Martinez in the CBS drama “Matlock.”
Beyond acting, Del Rio has established himself as a director and producer. His directorial credits include the feature films “Sick for Toys” (2018) and “Road Head” (2020), both available on Amazon Prime. He co-founded Theatre Row Productions with his wife, Katherine Del Rio, and their first feature film, “The Big Feed,” is currently in post-production. Del Rio is also committed to guiding the next generation of professionals; he mentors high school students through the ICouldBe program, which connects teens with professional mentors to support their educational and career development. Additionally, he directs demo reels for students at his alma mater, contributing to the development of emerging talent.
