Janine Turner

Janine Turner is an acclaimed actress, writer, and public speaker, recognized for her diverse roles across television and film and her advocacy for constitutional education. After earning three consecutive Golden Globe nominations and an Emmy nomination for her starring role as Maggie O’Connell in the acclaimed series Northern Exposure (1990-1995), Janine Turner went on to establish a versatile career across film, television, and advocacy. Her portrayal of the spirited Alaskan air taxi pilot garnered her an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (1993) and three consecutive Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress – Television Series Drama (1992-1994). Early in her career, Turner appeared on Dallas (1978) before a significant role as Laura Templeton on the daytime soap General Hospital (1982-1983), followed by Another World (1986-1987).

On television, she guest-starred in 12 episodes of the critically acclaimed series Friday Night Lights as Katie McCoy from 2008 to 2009. Demonstrating her breadth as an author, Turner published Holding Her Head High: Inspiration from 12 Single Mothers Who Championed Their Children and Changed History in 2008. Beyond her entertainment career, Turner is a dedicated public speaker and advocate. In 2010, she co-founded Constituting America, an organization committed to educating the public about the U.S.

Constitution, where she serves as Co-President. She also hosted ‘The Janine Turner Show’ on radio stations KLIF and KPRC from 2011 to 2013, a program honored as ‘Best Radio Show in Dallas.’ Further showcasing her commitment to civic engagement, Turner was appointed as a member of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation in 2006.
