David Visentin was born and raised in Toronto, Ontario, where he grew up alongside three siblings. His early life was influenced by his father, Nick Visentin, who established his own realty firm called ‘Country Living Realty.’ David completed his education at West Humber Collegiate Institute. Initially, he harbored aspirations of pursuing a career in acting, with plans to attend theatre school. However, his father encouraged him to obtain a real estate license as a practical alternative. Following this advice, David earned his real estate license, a process that typically took six weeks in Ontario at the time. This decision mirrored the path taken by his brothers and sister, who also obtained their licenses. In 1987, David officially began his real estate career, working as an agent under his family’s business, ‘Country Living Realty,’ based in Barrie, Ontario, where he collaborated with his father.
Visentin’s television career commenced when Canadian production company ‘Big Coat Productions’ (now Big Coat Media) held auditions for “Love It or List It.” Hilary Farr was cast as the designer, and David was selected as the real estate agent after his audition. The show premiered on the W Network on September 8, 2008, establishing Farr and Visentin as co-hosts and competitive counterparts. Visentin’s role involves presenting homeowners with alternative properties to encourage them to “list” their current homes, while Farr focuses on renovating their existing residences within a specified budget. The dynamic between Visentin and Farr, characterized by good-natured bickering, became a key element contributing to the series’ success. After 19 seasons, Hilary Farr announced her departure from the show in 2023, leading to a temporary hiatus in production while a replacement was sought. In 2025, Page Turner was announced as Farr’s successor, joining Visentin as the new designer and rival for the show’s 20th season.
Beyond “Love It or List It,” David Visentin has made various appearances as a guest or contributor on different morning news and talk shows, including “The Marilyn Denis Show,” “Harry,” “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” and “The Today Show.” He has also offered insights on Fox News Radio, discussing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the housing and renovation markets. Additionally, Visentin contributes to publications and news services such as The Canadian Press and Time magazine.
