David Wenham

David Wenham is an Australian actor known for his versatile roles across film, television, and theatre, gaining international recognition and critical acclaim. After graduating from Theatre Nepean at the University of Western Sydney with a Bachelor of Arts (Performing Arts) in 1987, David Wenham swiftly established himself as a prominent actor in Australia. He garnered significant early recognition, including an AFI award for his role in 1997’s ‘Simone de Beauvoir’s Babies’ and captivated audiences as Diver Dan in the ABC television series ‘SeaChange’ from 1998 to 1999. His engaging presence also led to a portrait of him by Adam Cullen winning the prestigious Archibald Prize in 2000.

In film, he portrayed Hank Snow in Baz Luhrmann’s biographical ‘Elvis’ (2022). Recognizing his extensive contributions to the arts, Wenham was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2023 Australia Day Honours, cementing his status as a distinguished figure in the industry.
