Delaney Schnell

Delaney Schnell was born on December 21, 1998, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, and grew up in Tucson, Arizona. She began diving at age 10, following a background in gymnastics. Schnell attended the University of Arizona, where she competed collegiately and pursued a master’s degree in Speech Pathology. Her early career highlights include winning a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform at the 2019 World Aquatics Championships in Gwangju, South Korea. The same year, she also secured a bronze medal in the 10-meter synchronized platform at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, alongside her partner Amelia Magaña. These early achievements established her as a significant talent in international diving.

Schnell’s career progression saw her qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan, where she made a notable impact. Competing in both the 10-meter platform and the synchronized 10-meter platform with Jessica Parratto, Schnell earned a silver medal in the synchronized event, marking the first Olympic medal for the United States in that category. She also placed fifth in the individual 10-meter platform. Her success continued into the 2022 World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, where she won a silver medal in the 10-meter synchronized platform with Katrina Young and a bronze medal in the 10-meter mixed synchronized platform with Carson Tyler. In collegiate diving, she achieved multiple Pac-12 Conference titles and became an NCAA National Champion in platform diving in 2023.

Throughout her career, Schnell has demonstrated consistent high performance and a commitment to her sport and academic pursuits. She has been recognized with numerous awards, including multiple Pac-12 Diver of the Year honors and the Pac-12 Women’s Swimming & Diving Scholar Athlete of the Year for the 2022–2023 academic period. Schnell is a two-time Olympian, having qualified for both the 2020 Tokyo and 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Her dedication to training, often involving three to five hours daily, underscores her pursuit of excellence, while her involvement with the Southern Arizona Roadrunners and hobbies like playing piano and baking show a balanced personal life.
